Ga Yeon Song vs Emi Yamamoto Confirmed For Road FC 17South Korean kickboxer Ga Yeon Song now has an opponent for her mixed martial arts debut on August 17th at Road Fighting Championship 17 in Seoul. The popular 19-year-old star is set to face off against Japan’s Emi Yamamoto in a featured 105-pound atomweight bout on next month’s card.

Road FC officials confirmed the matchup this past week. Song debuted for Road FC as a ring girl in 2013 and she has since gone on to become a television star in South Korea. She is now focused on becoming a legitimate atomweight contender and looks for her first MMA win against Yamamoto.

Song (5-0-0 amateur KB) has trained in kickboxing since her time in high school and she has won all five of her kickboxing matches to date including two against male opponents. She had hoped to debut for Road FC as an in-cage competitor this past year, but reluctantly accepted an opportunity to work as a ring girl in order to develop a fanbase with Road FC. Fans took an instant liking to Song, who has now been dubbed “the most beautiful MMA fighter in the world.”

While Road FC has thus far focused much of its promotional efforts on Song’s appearance, the teen striker has set out to prove that she is more than just a pretty face and she plans to one day be a top contender in the 105-pound women’s division. Her journey begins with her MMA debut next month.

Yamamoto (0-1-0 amateur MMA) will be a decided underdog when she steps into the Road FC cage for the first time in three weeks. The Japanese fighter began training two years ago and she had her lone MMA bout in December 2012. Yamamoto’s amateur MMA debut ended in a second-round technical submission defeat against recent Road FC signee Hazuki Kimura, and she now travels to South Korea in search of a big upset over the heavily-favoured Song.

Road Fighting Championship 17 takes place on August 17th at Seoul Olympic Hall in Seoul, South Korea. The atomweight bout between Song and Yamamoto was initially slated to be contested over two 5:00 rounds, but will now take place over two 3:00 rounds.
