Jessica Eye vs Carina Damm Added To “Fight Night In The Flats 9”Flyweight star Jessica “Evil” Eye is set to make her return to action on June 1st at NAAFS: “Fight Night In The Flats 9” in Cleveland, Ohio. Eye, who has been recovering from a serious back injury that she sustained in March, will take on Brazilian veteran Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm.

Eye announced plans for the matchup earlier today. The popular Ohio native has won six straight fights and most recently choked out Zoila “The Warrior Princess” Frausto Gurgel in 58 seconds at Bellator 83. Damm is coming off of a close Split Decision loss to Tonya “Triple Threat” Evinger in December.

Eye (9-1-0) began her MMA career for the North American Allied Fight Series in June 2008 and she remains one of the promotion’s top stars to date. In her most recent appearance for NAAFS in August, Eye overcame a fractured foot and posted a lopsided Unanimous Decision win over Angela Magana. She then stepped into her most high-profile fight to date against Frausto Gurgel at Bellator 83 and used a standing arm-triangle choke to render the former 115-pound champion unconscious. Eye had planned to face Munah “The Perfect Storm” Holland at Bellator 95 in April, but a serious back injury forced her to withdraw from the fight for the first time in her career.

Damm (17-8-0) was once one of the sport’s premier female flyweights, but she has battled inconsistency in recent years. In 2010, Damm entered the inaugural Strikeforce women’s bantamweight tournament, but succumbed to a second-round triangle armbar from Hitomi “Girlfight Monster” Akano. She is 2-4 since the loss to Akano, with all four losses coming in fights in the United States. Her two wins during that stretch – both first-round submissions – took place in her home country of Brazil in mid-2011. Despite her recent struggles, Damm remains a tough test for any opponent in the flyweight division and she holds notable victories over Vanessa Porto, Miku Matsumoto, Jessica Aguilar and Kalindra Faria.

  1. Carina Damm will be 2 X 5 in her last seven fights, it seems.

  2. Eye must curse herself every night for signing with Bellator. To be fair, she didn’t know they would abandon WMMA. She’d be fighting in Invicta now and maybe the cornerstone of a future UFC 125 division.

  3. No shit. You really dont hear of any of the bellator female fighters….thats a shame. It seems like bellator is a real scum bag organization. I say that because of the way they treat not only thier female fighters but thier male fighters as well. Every so often, a fighter will claim that bellator cheated them or didnt handle something properly etc. I am referring to jessica penne broken hand that allegedly didnt recieve medical attention after a fight. It healed incorrectly and eddy alvarez’s contract woes. By my count, this is the 12th fighter that has had issues…

  4. I would imagine that bellator has “iron clad ” contracts that will not allow jessica eye/jessica aguilar out. Its just my guess…

  5. True. There are no 125 lbers. for her to fight in Bellator.

She is a big 125 lber., much like Cat Zingano. Maybe, she could fight at 135 lbs. in UFC, once her Bellator contract is through…?
