Tecia Torres vs Paige VanZant Targeted For Invicta FC 4 CardTwo of MMA’s fastest-rising female prospects, Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres and “12 Gauge” Paige VanZant, will collide in a strawweight bout at Invicta Fighting Championships 4 in January. MMARising.com confirmed plans for the matchup with sources close to the promotion this week.

Torres made a successful pro debut with a Unanimous Decision victory over fellow three-time amateur champion Kaiyana Rain at Invicta FC 3 this past month and remains unbeaten in her eight-fight MMA career. VanZant is also undefeated and she has won all three of her bouts since debuting in April.

Torres (1-0-0 pro; 8-0-0 MMA) put together one of the most impressive amateur careers of any female fighter to date over a ten-month span from September 2011 until July of this year. Along the way, the American Top Team fighter captured three championship titles and totalled notable wins over Sarah “TNT” McLeod and Amber “The Apex Predator” Stautzenberger, among others. The 23-year-old Torres made her much-anticipated pro debut in October and took a clear-cut decision win over Rain after three action-packed rounds. She is one of the top female prospects in the sport today and will look for her second Invicta FC victory in January.

VanZant (2-0-0 pro; 3-0-0 MMA) made a much quicker transition to the professional ranks than her Invicta FC 4 opponent, but she has already shown that she is fully capable of competing among the division’s best young stars. After winning her MMA debut in just 50 seconds, VanZant has since taken on a pair of short-notice pro bouts against Texas-based fighters Jordan Nicole “Ninja Princess” Gaza and the aforementioned Stautzenberger. The 18-year-old VanZant walked away with decision victories on both occasions and she now seeks her biggest win to date as she makes her Invicta FC debut.

Both Torres and VanZant possess well-rounded skill sets. Torres continues to develop her overall MMA game under the tutelage of Jessica Aguilar, Ediene Gomes and Nina Ansaroff at ATT. VanZant recently relocated to Las Vegas and the House of RYU Fight Team, and she will resume training with former teammate and Tuff-N-Uff champion Taylor Stratford in preparation for the Invicta FC 4 showdown.

Invicta Fighting Championships 4 takes place at a venue to be determined in Kansas City, Missouri. The event is expected to be headlined by an Invicta FC Strawweight Championship bout between Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza and Ayaka Hamasaki and may take place on January 5th, though no date has been officially announced.
