M-1 Global's New Year's Eve "Yarennoka!" Card

With the UFC coming out with their best event to date, at UFC 79 on December 29th, M-1 Global has struck back hard, announcing their "Yarennoka!" event for New Year's Eve.

The event features a lightweight dream match between K-1 HERO's Middleweight (154 pounds) Champion Gesias "JZ Calvan" Calvancanti and Shooto Champion and former PRIDE star Shinya "Tobikan Judan" Aoki, as well as the return of legendary Japanese fighter, Hayato "Mach" Sakurai.

M-1 Global may yet steal the thunder from the UFC, especially if they secure a North American television deal in time.

Three more fights have since been announced. Ricardo Arona is also scheduled to be a part of the event, but his opponent has yet to be determined.

Sadly, Gesias Calvancanti tore a ligament in his left knee during training and will be unable to compete with Shinya Aoki on the card. However, Aoki will fight a replacement opponent, who should be named within the next two days.
