Jonathan “Dragon” Martinez vs Frankie Saenz

Round 1:
Saenz landed a combination and he backed Martinez up against the cage, then threw knees to Martinez’s right thigh. Martinez fought off trip attempts and broke free from the clinch. He threw kicks to Saenz’s upper body and head as Saenz punched from a distance. Sanez landed a leg kick and Martinez countered with one to the body. He stuffed a takedown attempt and landed more body kicks. Martinez continued to attack Saenz’s body with kicks and knees, and he landed a quick flurry of punches as well. In the final seconds, Martinez snapped Saenz’s head back with a one-two combination. 10-9 Martinez.

Round 2:
Body kicks were exchanged to begin the second round and Saenz landed a flurry and an overhand right. Martinez avoided a takedown attempt and he hurt Saenz with a head kick. Martinez closed in with a left hook and he followed with knees and kicks to the body. A head kick dropped Saenz and Martinez dove on him with massive left hands. Saenz battled back to his feet and Martinez tripped him after catching a kick. He landed punches and elbows from the top and Saenz stood once again. Martinez threw another head kick and he continued to land punches. Late in the round, Martinez dropped Saenz with a head kick and nearly finished him with punches on the ground, but Saenz made it to the bell. 10-8 Martinez, if not a 10-7.

Round 3:
Time was called early in the final round when Saenz was kicked in the groin. The fight continued and Martinez dropped Saenz with a devastating knee. He followed with punches on the ground and the fight was stopped.

Winner: Jonathan Martinez by KO (Knee & Punches) at 0:57 of round three. He improves to 12-3-0.

 

Joseph Nathan “Mayhem” Maness vs Johnny “Kid Kvenbo” Munoz Jr.

Round 1:
Munoz threw early kicks to Maness’s upper body and he shrugged off a clinch attempt. Maness landed a left hand and Munoz responded with more body kicks. A clinch followed and time was called when Maness was kneed in the groin. Action resumed and time was almost immediately called again when Munoz kicked Maness in the groin. Munoz was warned and the fight continued. He took Maness down into half-guard and passed to side control. Munoz landed short punches and elbows to Maness’s forehead, then attacked Maness’s left arm with a kimura attempt. Maness defended well and Munoz switched to punches and hammerfists. He alternated between mount and back control while blasting Maness with more punches until the bell. 10-9 Munoz. Close to a 10-8 due to the late offence.

Round 2:
Maness stuffed a takedown and landed a lead left hook in round two. Munoz shot in for another takedown attempt and that led to a clinch against the cage. The fighters separated and Munoz landed a hard leg kick, but he was immediately countered by a right hook from Maness. Munoz began to bleed from a cut above his right eye and a clinch battle ensued against the cage. The fighters were separated during a lull in the action and Munoz immediately clinched again. He finally managed to elevate and slam Maness to the ground, but Maness was active with elbows from the bottom. Close round. 10-9 Maness.

Round 3:
Time was called very early in round three when Maness was kicked in the groin. Munoz was docked one point and action continued with a clinch battle against the fence. Munoz threw knees and Maness answered with punches to the body. After the fighters were separated, Maness stuffed a takedown and that led to yet another clinch. Munoz could not get Maness down and both men landed knees in close. Maness eventually took Munoz down and he avoided a triangle choke. Munoz switched to a modified calf slicer before time expired. Very even round. Would be a 10-10, but 10-9 Maness due to the point deduction.

Winner: Joseph Nathan Maness by Unanimous Decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27) after three rounds. He improves to 12-1-0.

 

Jamall “Prettyboy” Emmers vs Vince “The Anomaly” Cachero

Round 1:
Kicks were exchanged right away and Emmers landed a hard one to Cachero’s body. Emmers followed up a three-punch combo with a body kick and he attacked with knees from a Thai clinch. Cachero landed a hard right hand, but Emmers responded with another knee and a body kick. Cachero caught a kick and tripped Emmers, but Emmers returned to his feet and fought off a clinch. Time was called when Emmers was kneed in the groin. Action resumed and Emmers landed more knees in a clinch. He followed with overhand rights and even more knees. Emmers took Cachero down late in the round and struck from the top with punches. 10-9 Emmers.

Round 2:
The second round began with body kicks and a lead left hook for Emmers. He landed three more punches and a grazing head kick. Cachero kicked at Emmers’s lead leg and both men landed right hooks. Emmers landed a big combination and a hard knee to the body. He took Cachero’s back and threw punches to the side of his head. Cachero turned into a clinch and ate knees and punches. Both men landed hard right hands and Emmers scored with overhand lefts and rights. He took Cachero down in the final minute and Cachero threw elbows from the bottom. 10-9 Emmers.

Round 3:
Emmers clinched and briefly took Cachero’s back in the final round. Cachero turned into the clinch and Emmers secured a takedown. Cachero threw elbows from the bottom and Emmers passed to half-guard. He attempted a kimura, but Cachero pulled his arm free and stood up. A nice knee landed for Cachero and Emmers broke free from the clinch. Cachero closed in again and Emmers landed knees to the body. He took Cachero down into side control and transitioned to his back. Emmers tried for a rear-naked choke and Cachero defended. 10-9 Emmers.

Winner: Jamall Emmers by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 18-5-0.

 

Chris “El Guapo” Gutierrez vs Cody Durden

Round 1:
Durden struck first with a leg kick and Gutierrez responded with one of his own. Durden took him down against the base of the cage and transitioned to Gutierrez’s back. Durden threw punches to the sides of Gutierrez’s head while looking to set up a rear-naked choke. He nearly got the choke once, but Gutierrez defended and Durden resumed punching to the sides of his head. He flattened Gutierrez out with one minute to go and landed more punches before trying once more for a choke. Gutierrez defended until the bell. 10-9 Durden. Could be a 10-8.

Round 2:
Gutierrez landed three leg kicks early in the second round and he avoided a takedown attempt from Durden. Time was called after Durden was inadvertently kicked in the groin. Action eventually continued and both fighters landed body kicks. Gutierrez mixed up his strikes with leg kicks and lead left hands that kept Durden guessing. A nice right hand landed for Gutierrez and he kicked at Durden’s leg on the ground after Durden failed with a takedown attempt. Durden finally tripped Gutierrez with 40 seconds to go and Gutierrez countered with an armbar. Durden made it to the bell but clearly lost the round. 10-9 Gutierrez.

Round 3:
After an exchange of leg kicks, Gutierrez landed a head kick in the final round. The fighters continued to trade more kicks and time was called when Gutierrez was struck in the groin. The fight continued after a brief break and Durden landed two leg kicks. Gutierrez responded with a spinning back kick to the body and he stuffed a takedown attempt. Durden maintained his grip on Gutierrez’s leg and Gutierrez stunned him with a counter hook. With one minute to go, Gutierrez dropped a fatigued Durden with a knee and he punched from the top until the end of the fight. 10-9 Gutierrez.

Result: Unanimous Draw (28-28, 28-28, 28-28) after three rounds. Gutierrez moves to 15-4-2, while Durden is now 11-2-1.
