Jake “The Celtic Kid” Matthews vs Rostem Akman

Round 1:
Single punches and kicks were exchanged in the fairly uneventful opening three minutes. Matthews landed occasional overhand rights and Akman responded with high kicks. Matthews landed a counter one-two and he continued to circle on the outside. A right hand landed for Matthews and Akman responded with an uppercut. Matthews faked a shot and landed a right hand over the top and he followed with more punches in the final seconds. 10-9 Matthews.

Round 2:
Matthews backed Akman up with an overhand right early in the second round, but he did not follow up with any offence. Akman lunged in with a one-two and both men missed with looping hooks. Matthews began to throw body kicks and he avoided a knee from Akman before countering with an overhand right. The fighters traded punches and Akman finally picked up the pace with a combination. Matthews replied with kicks and he landed a counter right hand in the final 30 seconds. Both men landed kicks late in the round. 10-9 Matthews.

Round 3:
The pace remained measured in the final round as the fighters exchanged occasional punches and kicks while circling each other. Matthews landed an knee and an uppercut in a brief clinch and the fighters traded punches again. Both men landed knees in a clinch against the cageand Matthews kept Akman on the defensive with more kicks and knees in the final seconds. Akman pulled half-guard with a guillotine choke and Matthews escaped before the bell. 10-9 Matthews. Awful fight.

Winner: Jake Matthews by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 15-4-0.

 

Callan “The Rockstar” Potter vs Maki “Coconut Bombz” Pitolo

Round 1:
Both men landed huge punches in a pair of lengthy striking exchanges in the opening 75 seconds. Potter hurt Pitolo with a left hook and he followed with two more, but Pitolo clinched and took his back. He dragged Potter down and worked for a rear-naked choke, but Potter escaped into top position and he kept Pitolo pinned against the base of the cage. Potter landed short punches as Pitolo worked back to his feet. Pitolo attempted a guillotine choke and Potter slammed him down into side control. The fighters stood again and both landed looping punches. Pitolo held Potter against the cage and he landed knees to the body and left hands until the bell. 10-9 Potter.

Round 2:
The second round began with another exchange of punches and Potter mixed in knees as he briefly backed Pitolo up against the cage. Both men landed short knees as they battled for position and the referee eventually separated them. Potter backed Pitolo up and he fired off looping hooks while avoiding most of Pitolo’s counters. Hard elbows landed for Potter and the fighters traded knees. The round ended with both men landing punches, and Pitolo connected with two uppercuts. 10-9 Potter.

Round 3:
The fighters traded takedowns in the first minute of the final round and Potter kept Pitolo down after reversing a takedown soon after. Potter tried to move to mount and he struck with punches and elbows as Pitolo held on from the bottom. Potter was unable to mount much offence from the top as time ticked down, but he maintained the position until the end of the round. 10-9 Potter.

Winner: Callan Potter by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 18-8-0.

 

Brad “Quake” Riddell vs Jamie Mullarkey

Round 1:
Mullarkey landed a stiff jab early on and Riddell responded with a right hook. The fighters continued to trade punches and Riddell landed a punch-kick combo. He continued to throw leg kicks and Mullarkey answered with jabs. He tried for a takedown and Riddell easily stuffed it. Mullarkey maintained a clinch against the cage until Riddell broke free. He landed a one-two and followed with two hooks to the body in the final seconds. 10-9 Riddell.

Round 2:
Mullarkey briefly got Riddell down in round two, but he lost the position in a scramble and Riddell returned to his feet. Mullarkey got him back down into half-guard and landed short strikes from the top until Riddell exploded out. Riddell briefly held top position in side control, but Mullarkey scrambled up to his feet and he looked for another takedown against the cage. Riddell broke free and he landed a hard leg kick. A big left hook landed for Riddell and he followed with a right hand. Mullarkey clinched and Riddell reversed a takedown into mount. He landed punches and worked for a rear-naked choke after Mullarkey gave up his back. Mullarkey escaped and finished the round on top in Riddell’s guard. 10-9 Riddell.

Round 3:
Riddell opened the final round with a leg kick and a combination.. He stuffed a takedown and briefly struck from the top in Mullarkey’s guard before returning to his feet. Both men landed combinations on the feet and Riddell rocked Mullarkey, but Mullarkey recovered and he hurt Riddell with a counter hook. Mullarkey took Riddell down into back control and worked for a rear-naked choke. Riddell escaped and the fighters stood up. Mullarkey’s mouthpiece was replaced, but Riddell almost immediately knocked it out again with a three-punch combo. He fought off a Mullarkey takedown attempt and landed another big flurry. Mullarkey’s mouthpiece was replaced again and both men landed hard shots. Riddell hurt Mullarkey with hard shots and he easily stuffed a takedown. 10-9 Riddell.

Winner: Brad Riddell by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 29-27) after three rounds. He improves to 7-1-0.

 

Megan Anderson vs Zarah “Infinite” Fairn dos Santos

Round 1:
Fairn attacked with a flurry of punches right away that backed Anderson up against the cage. Anderson clinched and Fairn landed short right hands in close until Anderson took her down. Anderson moved to mount and she postured up with elbows to Fairn’s face. She opened a cut on the left side of Fairn’s forehead and continued to pepper her with elbows. Fairn eventually exploded out and wound up on top in Anderson’s guard, but Anderson locked on a triangle choke in the process. She tightened the choke and Fairn tapped out.

Winner: Megan Anderson by Submission (Triangle Choke) at 3:57 of round one. She improves to 10-4-0.

 

Ji Yeon “Firefist” Kim vs Nadia “187” Kassem

Round 1:
Kassem rushed forward and threw a body kick while touching gloves, but she was immediately dropped by a counter left hook from Kim. Kassem recovered and got back to her feet as Kim secured a clinch. Kassem used a lateral drop to take Kim down and she struck from the top until Kim stood up. The fighters traded punches and Kim landed the better shots. Kassem darted in with a right hand and Kim responded with two punches. She backed Kassem up with a flurry and punched her way into a clinch soon after. Kassem landed a knee and Kim countered with an elbow over the top. 10-9 Kim.

Round 2:
Kim was the aggressor throughout the first half of round two, as she walked Kassem down with punches and forced her to circle on the outside. Kim continued to pressure Kassem with punches and she eventually knocked her mouthpiece out. Time was immediately called, to the dismay of Kim, in order to replace Kassem’s mouthpiece. Action continued and both women landed flurries. Kim hurt Kassem with a flurry in the final minute and she continued to batter her with punches as Kassem retreated to the cage. A punch to the body hurt Kassem and a second one dropped her to the mat, ending the fight with seconds remaining in the round.

Winner: Ji Yeon Kim by KO (Punch To The Body) at 4:59 of round two. She improves to 9-2-2.

 

Khalid “The Warrior” Taha vs Bruno “Bulldog” Silva

Round 1:
Both men landed hard leg kicks in the opening minute and Taha dropped Silva with a counter hook in a brief exchange. Silva immediately returned to his feet and he tried for a takedown, but Taha defended and broke free. Both fighters landed body kicks and Taha fired off an overhand right. He cracked Silva with another right hook and followed with a flurry as Silva circled away. Time was called after Taha was kicked in the groin. The fight continued and the fighters clinched, but action was paused again when Taha was kneed in the groin. The fight eventually continued and both men landed punches in the final 15 seconds. 10-9 Taha.

Round 2:
Taha dropped Silva again in round two, but Silva quickly got back up and he clinched in search of a takedown. He got Taha down and struck from the top with short right hands. Silva repeatedly prevented Taha from getting back to his feet and he continued to land punches from top position throughout the round. In the final minute, Silva landed elbows and he secured a front headlock when Taha tried to scramble up. 10-9 Silva.

Round 3:
Silva clinched and worked for a takedown against the fence in the opening minutes of the final round. Taha defended well and he eventually broke free. He stuffed a takedown and landed hard punches and elbows to the side of Silva’s face. Taha locked on an arm-triangle choke in a scramble and he passed to side control to tighten the choke. Silva held on momentarily before tapping out.

Winner: Khalid Taha by Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) at 3:00 of round three. He improves to 14-2-0.
