Raphael Assuncao vs “Magic” Marlon Moraes

Round 1:
Moraes landed some nice leg kicks in the opening minute, but Assuncao fired back with right hands. A nice right hook landed for Moraes and he followed with a one-two after ducking under a punch from Assuncao. The fighters traded single kicks and punches throughout the middle of the round and Moraes grazed with a head kick in the final 30 seconds. Assuncao rocked him with two right hooks to the jaw, but a wobbly Moraes stayed on his feet until the bell. Close round. 10-9 Assuncao, barely, due to the late rally.

Round 2:
The fighters maintained a measured pace in round two as they traded single strikes on the feet. Assuncao evaded many of Moraes’s strikes and countered with jabs, leg kicks and right hands. Moraes began to mix things up with punches to the body and head, and he followed with a body kick. Assuncao landed a right hand as time expired. Another close round. 10-9 Assuncao.

Round 3:
Assuncao cracked Moraes with a right hook to the temple that caused Moraes to lose his balance, but he regained his footing and pressed forward with kicks. Time was called after Moraes was kicked in the groin, but action resumed and Moraes landed a hard kick to the body. He clipped Assuncao with a left hook, but Assuncao caught a kick and tried for a takedown. Moraes defended and attempted a takedown of his own, but Assuncao stuffed it. Moraes threw a spinning wheel kick that partially landed and he narrowly missed with a head kick. 10-9 Moraes.

Winner: Raphael Assuncao by Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 25-5-0.

 

Antônio “Cara de Sapato” Carlos Jr. vs Eric “Zebrinha” Spicely

Round 1:
Carlos dropped down for a leglock attempt early in the fight, which led to duelling heel hooks from the 50/50 position on the ground. Carlos tried to take top position, but his leg remained tangled with Spicely’s, and neither man could obtain an advantage. The fighters eventually stood and Carlos secured a takedown into mount. Spicely rolled over and Carlos took his back. He locked on a body triangle and tried for a rear-naked choke, but time expired. 10-9 Carlos.

Round 2:
Carlos stuffed a takedown and took top position on the ground in round two. The fighters returned to 50/50 position, but this time Carlos was able to scramble into back control. He hunted for a rear-naked choke, but Spicely escaped and fought his way back to butterfly guard. Carlos took his back again soon after and secured a final rear-naked choke that forced Spicely to submit.

Winner: Antônio Carlos Jr. by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 3:49 of round two. He improves to 8-2-0, 1 NC.

 

Matthew Lopez vs Johnny “Pretinho” Eduardo

Round 1:
Eduardo scored with a short right hand that staggered Lopez in the early goings, but Lopez answered back with left hands that led to an exchange of power punches. Lopez took Eduardo down and he used hammerfists and elbows to fight his way out of a heel hook attempt. Eduardo rolled to his side and Lopez unloaded with dozens of hammerfists and punches until referee Mario Yamasaki finally intervened to stop the fight much later than necessary.

Winner: Matthew Lopez by TKO (Punches) at 2:57 of round one. He improves to 10-1-0.

 

Brian “Boom” Kelleher vs Iuri “Marajo” Alcantara

Round 1:
Alcantara landed powerful kicks to the body in the opening seconds and he knocked Kelleher down with a counter left cross after catching a kick. Kelleher stood and landed two right hooks, and he followed with a spinning backfist. Alcantara took him down, but Kelleher locked on a very tight guillotine choke on the way down and Alcantara hastily tapped out just as he was losing consciousness.

Winner: Brian Kelleher by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 1:48 of round one. He improves to 17-7-0.

 

Viviane “Sucuri” Pereira vs Jamie Moyle

Round 1:
Pereira opened the action with quick one-twos and she countered Moyle’s leg kicks with overhand rights. Pereira caught a kick from Moyle and backed her up against the cage, where the fighters traded knees to the body. After separating, both women landed punches and Pereira stunned Moyle with a right hook. Moyle recovered, but Pereira swarmed on her with punches and another clinch followed against the fence. Pereira finished the round with more power punches. 10-9 Pereira.

Round 2:
The second round began with Pereira landing more quick combinations. Moyle threw front kicks and Pereira fired back with overhand rights. Big punches landed for Pereira, and Moyle was forced to circle away. In the final minute, Moyle landed a nice body kick, but Pereira answered back with a flurry. She tripped Moyle after catching a kick and landed strikes while standing over her downed opponent until the bell. 10-9 Pereira.

Round 3:
Pereira connected with a hard right hand in round three and she continued to outstrike Moyle in the exchanges. Moyle clinched and landed a knee, but Pereira fought off a takedown and she landed uppercuts that allowed her to break free from Moyle’s grasp. Pereira wobbled Moyle with a lunging combination, but Moyle quickly regained her footing. More punches landed for Pereira in the final minute and Moyle answered with a chopping leg kick. 10-9 Pereira.

Winner: Viviane Pereira by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. She improves to 13-0-0.

 

Undercard Fights:

– Luan “Tarzan” Chagas defeated “Judo” Jim Wallhead by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:48 of round two. He improves to 15-2-1 with the win.

– Deivison “Deus da Guerra” Figueiredo defeated Marco “Psycho” Beltran by TKO (Doctor Stoppage) at 5:00 of round two. He improves to 12-0-0 with the win.
