Sara McMann, Jamie Moyle Earn Key Wins At TUF 24 Finale In VegasFormer UFC title challenger Sara McMann earned one of the biggest victories of her career in a featured bantamweight matchup tonight at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. McMann submitted BJJ black belt Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis with a second-round arm-triangle choke.

McMann has now won back-to-back bouts inside the Octagon and has set her sights on fighting her way back into title contention. Also on tonight’s TUF 24 Finale card, highly-touted strawweight prospect Jamie Moyle took home her first official UFC win by defeating talented Hawaiian Kailin Curran.

McMann (10-3-0) landed a nice flurry of punches early on and she took Davis (17-7-0) down soon after. Davis was active off of her back, and she looked to set up a triangle choke while peppering McMann with elbows. McMann freed her arm once, and she landed some decent ground and pound from the top, but Davis secured another triangle choke that allowed her to score with hard elbows before the bell.

Davis opened round two with a combination, but McMann promptly took her down and avoided a leglock attempt while passing from half-guard to side control. She trapped Davis in a tight arm-triangle choke and Davis had no choice but to tap out for the first time in her pro MMA career.

Post-fight, McMann campaigned for another shot at the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. However, McMann likely needs at least one more win in order to secure a rematch with reigning champion Amanda “Lioness” Nunes, who submitted McMann at UFC Fight Night 73.

Winner: Sara McMann by Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) at 2:52 of round two. She improves to 10-3-0.

Earlier on the card, Moyle (4-1-0) put forth a strong showing en route to her victory over Curran (4-4-0) in an entertaining matchup. Moyle scored a takedown early in round one and she landed some nice clinch strikes after the fight returned to the feet. Curran threatened with a standing guillotine choke, but Moyle freed herself and she walked Curran down with punches in the final minute.

Moyle continued to hunt for takedowns in the second stanza, which led to prolonged clinches against the cage, but Curran defended well and she stayed on her feet. Moyle scored with elbows in close and Curran replied with knees, which led to an exchange of punches. Moyle fought through Curran’s jabs and slammed her to the mat in the final 80 seconds. Moyle sustained a cut above her eye in the process, but finished the round with hard ground and pound.

Curran reversed a throw attempt in the final round and struck from the top until Moyle scrambled back up to her feet. Time was called to check on Moyle’s cut, but the fight resumed and Moyle countered Curran’s kicks with looping hooks and a takedown. She finished the close round by striking from the top and the bout went to the scorecards.

All three judges had it 30-27 for Moyle, who bounced back from her first official professional defeat at Invicta FC 14 and an exhibition loss in the TUF 23 elimination round. She remains one of the brightest prospects in the women’s strawweight division.

Winner: Jamie Moyle by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. She improves to 4-1-0.
