UFC Fight Night 95: "Cyborg vs Länsberg" Live Play-By-Play & ResultsThe Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil tonight for UFC Fight Night 95: “Cyborg vs Länsberg.” The event was headlined by a 140-pound catchweight bout between Invicta FC champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and Lina “Elbow Princess” Länsberg.

In the featherweight co-feature, former 135-pound champion Renan “Barao” Pegado faced Phillipe “The Filipino Assassin” Nover. At heavyweight, Roy “Big Country” Nelson squared off against fellow contender Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for tonight’s main card.

 

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino vs Lina “Elbow Princess” Länsberg

Round 1:
Cyborg punched her way into an early clinch and landed knees to the body while pinning Länsberg against the cage. Länsberg held Cyborg in place, but Cyborg landed more short knees. She broke free briefly and landed a big combination, but Länsberg tied her up in another clinch. Cyborg continued to score with knees and right hands in close. The fighters were eventually separated, but Länsberg immediately clinched and Cyborg dumped her to the mat. She mounted Länsberg and landed punches from the top. Länsberg scrambled up and Cyborg bloodied her nose with punches. 10-9 Cyborg, if not a 10-8.

Round 2:
The second round began with Cyborg blasting Länsberg with punches to the face and rapid-fire kicks to the body. She threw Länsberg to the mat and landed on top in side control. A bloodied Länsberg tried to kick her off, but Cyborg landed punches and elbows. Länsberg rolled to her side and Cyborg landed hammerfists until the fight was stopped.

Winner: Cristiane Justino by TKO (Punches) at 2:29 of round two. She improves to 17-1-0, 1 ND.

 

Renan “Barao” Pegado vs Phillipe “The Filipino Assassin” Nover

Round 1:
The opening round began with an exchange of leg kicks and Barao landed an overhand right. Nover dashed in with a jab and Barao flurried with punches and a knee. Left hooks landed for both men and Barao lost his balance. He regained his footing and pressured Nover with quick combinations. Barao scored with two hard leg kicks and a left uppercut. He continued to throw leg kic, jab combos and avoided most of Nover’s punches. 10-9 Barao.

Round 2:
Barao mixed things up with punch-kick combos in the second round and Nover struggled to land anything in return. Barao landed a jumping switch knee to the face and followed with more punches. Nover landed jabs and attempted a head kick, but Barao backed him up with a flurry to the body and head. Another combination landed for Barao and Nover missed with wild punches. Barao took him down into guard shortly before the bell. 10-9 Barao.

Round 3:
The fighters traded punches in round three until Barao tripped Nover near the base of the cage. Nover scrambled free and returned to his feet. Barao clinched and Nover broke free after landing knees. He countered a clinch by throwing two standing elbows to Barao’s face, which led to an exchange of left and right hooks. Barao got Nover down to a knee and dumped him on his face in the final seconds. Close round. 10-9 Barao.

Winner: Renan Pegado by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 36-4-0, 1 NC.

 

Roy “Big Country” Nelson vs Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva

Round 1:
Silva began the fight with kicks to Nelson’s lead leg and body, and both men landed right hands. Silva knocked Nelson off-balance with a leg kick, which led to another exchange of looping right hooks. Nelson closed in with two quick right hands and Silva responded with a body kick. Two big right hands landed for Nelson, who followed with a body kick of his own, but Silva quickly answered with a combination. Nelson took Silva’s back and held him against the cage. He landed knees to the thighs and punches to the body. 10-9 Nelson.

Round 2:
Silva chopped at Nelson’s lead leg with kicks in round two and Nelson replied with punches. Two more kicks landed for Silva and Nelson missed with overhand rights. He finally connected with a right hand that backed Silva up and time was called after Nelson was kicked in the groin. Action resumed and Silva rushed at Nelson with punches. He held him against the fence, but Nelson punched free. He stunned Silva with two right hands and Silva retreated. An uppercut sent Silva crashing to the canvas and Nelson polished him off with more punches until the fight was stopped.

Winner: Roy Nelson by KO (Punches) at 4:10 of round two. He improves to 22-13-0.

 

Francisco “Massaranduba” Trinaldo vs Paul “The Irish Dragon” Felder

Round 1:
Both men landed hard kicks to the body in the opening minute and Felder connected with a spinning backfist. He stepped in with a knee-punch combo, but Trinaldo blasted him with two left hooks and followed with a series of knees to the midsection. He held Felder against the fence and landed short knees and punches. An exchange of elbows followed and the fighters separated. Felder attempted spinning attacks and ate a lead right hook in return. 10-9 Trinaldo.

Round 2:
More body kicks were exchanged in round two and both men landed looping hooks. Trinaldo scored with a combination, but Felder cut him near the left eye with a counter right hand. Trinaldo took Felder down and landed an elbow that opened a gash next to Felder’s right eye. Felder began to bleed heavily from the cut and Trinaldo tried to trap him in a guillotine choke as the fighters scrambled back to their feet. A bloodied Felder landed a spinning back elbow late in the round. 10-9 Trinaldo.

Round 3:
Trinaldo opened round three with a head kick, but Felder was unfazed and he fired back with a right cross. He followed with a jumping switch knee to the body, but Trinaldo re-opened the cut above Felder’s eye with punches as the fighters clinched. Time was called to check on the cut, which was now severely impacting Felder’s vision, and the cageside doctor stopped the fight.

Winner: Francisco Trinaldo by TKO (Doctor Stoppage) at 2:25 of round three. He improves to 21-4-0.

 

Eric “Zebrinha” Spicely vs Thiago “Marreta” Santos

Round 1:
Spicely took the fight to the mat in round one and worked for an omoplata and a gogoplata from his back. Santos escaped to his feet, but Spicely scored a takedown into top position in half-guard, where he used a kimura attempt to set up a move to back control. He locked on a standing rear-naked choke and dragged Santos down to the canvas. Santos had nowhere to go and tapped out.

Winner: Eric Spicely by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:58 of round one. He improves to 9-1-0.

 

Godofredo “Pepey” Castro vs Mike “El Cucuy” de la Torre

Round 1:
Castro rocked de la Torre early in the fight with a flurry of looping punches, but de la Torre stayed on his feet. The fighters traded wild strikes and Castro landed hard punches and elbows. He eventually took de la Torre’s back and dragged him down to the mat. De la Torre fought off one rear-naked choke, but Castro trapped him in a second one and de la Torre was forced to submit.

Winner: Godofredo Castro by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 3:03 of round one. He improves to 13-4-0.

 

Undercard Fights:

– Michel “Trator” Prazeres defeated Gilbert “Durinho” Burns by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 21-2-0 with the win.

– Rani Yahya defeated Michinori Tanaka by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 23-8-0, 1 NC with the win.

– Jussier “Formiga” da Silva defeated Dustin Ortiz by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 19-4-0 with the win.

– Erick “Índio” Silva defeated Luan “Tarzan” Chagas by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 3:57 of round three. He improves to 19-7-0, 1 NC with the win.

– Alan Patrick “Nuguette” Silva Alves defeated Stevie “Braveheart” Ray by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 14-1-0 with the win.

– Vicente “The Silent Assassin” Luque defeated Hector “El Toro” Urbina by KO (Punch) at 1:00 of round one. He improves to 10-5-1 with the win.
