Satoko Shinashi Stops Proof Date At Deep: 76 ImpactDeep Women’s Flyweight Champion “Princess” Satoko Shinashi cruised to another quick and easy victory on Sunday night at Deep: “76 Impact” in Tokyo, Japan. Shinashi finished massively outmatched pro debutant Proof Date early in the first round of a one-sided 97-pound catchweight bout.

Since returning to MMA in October 2014 following a six-year retirement, Shinashi has drawn criticism for facing opponents with little to no pro MMA experience. She continued her streak of finishes by stopping Proof with ground and pound after securing a slick takedown in the opening minute.

Shinashi (35-2-2) wasted no time in taking the fight with kickboxer Proof (0-1-0) to the mat early on. Once on the ground, Shinashi worked to set up her preferred submission, the armbar, but Proof defended and escaped. Shinashi responded by raining down punches and hammerfists that forced the referee to intervene and stop the lopsided fight.

While she remains one of Japan’s most technically skilled female MMA fighters, Shinashi’s recent matchups against woefully overmatched foes have done nothing to advance her career. The 39-year-old has not faced an opponent with more than one pro MMA fight on her record since her initial retirement bout in October 2008 when she submitted veteran journeywoman Yukiko Seki.

Winner: Satoko Shinashi by TKO (Punches) at 1:32 of round one. She improves to 35-2-2.
