Deep Jewels 10 Live Play-By-Play & ResultsDeep Jewels showcased its tenth all-female fight card on Monday afternoon at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. Deep Jewels 10 was headlined by an atomweight title contender’s bout between former long-time Jewels champ Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama and once-beaten prospect Mina Kurobe.

In the Deep Jewels 10 atomweight co-feature, former strawweight champion Emi Tomimatsu took on Satomi “Sarami” Takano. Recent strawweight title challenger Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino met Nori Date in a “Deep Jewels vs Team Date” bout. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the card.

 

Atomweight Bout – 3×5

Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama vs Mina Kurobe

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Kurobe snaps out left jabs in the opening seconds and Sugiyama answers with left hooks. She shoots in for a takedown and Kurobe defends well. Sugiyama breaks free from the clinch and chases Kurobe down with more hooks. Kurobe lands a nice counter right hand. Sugiyama immediately fires off a series of hooks and Kurobe lands a stiff jab before the bell.

Round 2:
Sugiyama stuffs an early takedown in round two and the fighters clinch. Sugiyama lands left hooks and fends off a takedown attempt. Kurobe maintains a clinch and lands knees. Sugiyama pushes her into a corner and lands a solid right hook. Kurobe remains active in the clinch with knee strikes, but Sugiyama connects with another right hook.

Round 3:
Sugiyama presses the action with hooks in the final round and Kurobe jabs while circling on the outside. Referee Serizawa separates the fighters after a stalemate in the clinch. Kurobe sets up takedown attempts with jabs, but she cannot get Sugiyama down. Sugiyama lands right hooks and one-two combinations. She stuns Kurobe with a late flurry and tries for a takedown.

Judges Hidenobu Koike, Masato Fukuda and Kenichi Serizawa all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Sugiyama.

Winner: Naho Sugiyama by Unanimous Decision after three rounds. She improves to 11-4-0.

 

Atomweight Bout – 3×5

Emi Tomimatsu vs Satomi “Sarami” Takano

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Masato Fukuda. Takano begins the fight with a front kick that sets up a clinch. Tomimatsu pushes her off and targets the body. Takano circles to the side and lands hooks. She tries for a takedown, but Tomimatsu stuffs it and referee Fukuda separates the fighters. Takano scores with a right hook and attempts an uchi mata. She gets Tomimatsu down on her second try and immediately moves to mount. Tomimatsu gives up her back, then grabs onto Takano’s leg and uses it to get back to her feet.

Round 2:
Takano counters early jabs from Tomimatsu by clinching. She is unable to get Tomimatsu down and Tomimatsu lands right hooks. More jabs land for Tomimatsu and she repeatedly thwarts Takano’s takedown attempts. The referee separates the fighters and Tomimatsu continues to throw jabs. Takano answers with hooks late in the round.

Round 3:
Takano rushes in with hooks and a front kick in round three, but she is once again unable to take Tomimatsu down. Takano lands a front kick and Tomimatsu replies with a right hook. She clinches, but Takano stays on her feet and pushes Tomimatsu into a corner. Both women land hooks in close and Takano circles to the side. Tomimatsu works for a standing kimura. The fighters fall down and the fight ends.

Judge Masato Fukuda scores the fight for Takano. Judges Hidenobu Koike and Kenichi Serizawa both have it for the winner by Split Decision, Tomimatsu.

Winner: Emi Tomimatsu by Split Decision after three rounds. She improves to 10-10-0.

 

Strawweight Bout [Deep Jewels vs Team Date] – 3×5

Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino vs Nori Date

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Nori stays on the outside until Fujino clinches in search of a takedown. Nori uses the ropes to sprawl and is warned by Serizawa. Fujino traps Nori’s arm and lands a series of punches. Nori scrambles out and referee Serizawa calls for a break. Fujino works for takedowns until she finally gets Nori down before the bell.

Round 2:
Fujino quickly clinches in round two and tries to take Nori down. Nori counters with hammerfists to the sides of her face. Fujino eventually gets her down and Nori retaliates with upkicks. Fujino moves to half-guard and then to mount. She rains down punches from the top until Nori uses her legs to kick Fujino off. The fighters stand and Nori just misses with a backfist.

Round 3:
A stalemate ensues in the final round after Nori stuffs Fujino’s takedown attempts. Fujino dirty boxes and clinches, but Nori sprawls. She lands knees and counters another Fujino takedown attempt with hammerfists. Fujino manages to take her down and moves from side control to mount. Nori attacks with a leglock attempt late in the fight.

Judges Hidenobu Koike, Masato Fukuda and Yoshinori Umeki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Fujino.

Winner: Emi Fujino by Unanimous Decision after three rounds. She improves to 17-9-0.

 

Atomweight Bout [Deep Jewels vs Team Date] – 2×5

Hana Date vs Pan Hui

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Hana circles early on and Hui tries for a waist tackle. Hana sprawls and Hui switches to a single and then a double. Hana sprawls again and referee Umeki warns for a rope grab. Hana circles again and lands a backfist. Hui is dazed and Hana rushes her. Hui tries to buy time to recover by working for takedowns, but Hana stuffs them all.

Round 2:
Hana lands front kicks from a distance and Hui chases her. Hana keeps her at bay with more kicks until Hui finally clinches in search of a takedown. Hana pushes her off, but Hui shoots in for a double-leg takedown and Hana grabs onto her neck and knee. Hui presses forward on the feet, but Hana traps her in a Thai clinch and lands knees until time expires.

Judges Kenichi Serizawa, Masato Fukuda and Hidenobu Koike all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Hana.

Winner: Hana Date by Unanimous Decision after two rounds. She improves to 1-0-0.

 

Strawweight Bout [Deep Jewels vs Team Date] – 2×5

Sachiko Fujimori vs Karei Date

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Hidenobu Koike. Karei opens the action with a front kick, but Fujimori counters with a double-leg takedown and moves straight to mount. She lands numerous punches from the top until referee Koike has seen enough and waves off the fight.

Winner: Sachiko Fujimori by TKO (Punches) at 1:37 of round one. She improves to 4-1-0.

 

53kg Grappling Match [Deep Jewels vs Team Date] – 2×4

Natsumi Okubo vs Daiichi “Leader” Date

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Hidenobu Koike. Daiichi clinches and Okubo takes her down. She tries for a kimura and an armbar, but Daiichi defends. Okubo goes back to a kimura, but Daiichi scrambles and stands up. Okubo throws Daiichi back down and locks on another kimura. It’s deep, but Daiichi survives until the bell.

Round 2:
Okubo secures an uchi mata throw in round two and tries to pass Daiichi’s guard. Daiichi attacks her ankle, but she is unable to secure a submission and the referee calls for a break. Okubo lands a harai goshi throw into a scarf hold armlock. She switches to a kimura, but Daiichi defends until the end of the match.

Judges Yoshinori Umeki, Kenichi Serizawa and Masato Fukuda all score the match for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Okubo.

Winner: Natsumi Okubo by Unanimous Decision after two rounds.

 

Amateur Bantamweight Bout [Deep Jewels vs Team Date] – 2×3

Reina Miura vs Nao Date

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Miura missed weight and has been deemed ineligible to win on the official record. Miura opens with a harai goshi throw and Nao attempts a leg scissor choke. The fighters scramble and stand. Miura lands a one-two and secures another harai goshi. She locks on a scarf hold armlock and Nao submits. No time is given and the fight is officially a no contest due to Miura failing to make weight.

Result: No Contest (Miura Missed Weight) in round one. No time announced.
