UFC 186: "Johnson vs Horiguchi" Live Play-By-Play & ResultsThe Ultimate Fighting Championship came to the Bell Centre in Montréal, Québec, Canada tonight for UFC 186: “Johnson vs Horiguchi.” The injury-riddled card was headlined by a UFC Flyweight Championship bout between champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi.

In tonight’s bizarre catchweight co-main event, former UFC champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson returned to the Octagon to battle Fabio Maldonado. Michael “The Count” Bisping took on C.B. “The Doberman” Dollaway in a middleweight bout. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the card.

 

UFC Flyweight Championship

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson vs Kyoji Horiguchi

Round 1:
Johnson landed a lunging right hook early on, but Horiguchi backed him up with a three-punch flurry. He avoided a takedown, but Johnson caught a kick and clinched. Horiguchi punched his way free, but Johnson tagged him with four punches and scored a takedown seconds later. Horiguchi battled back to his feet and the fighters traded punches. Horiguchi landed a knee and a body kick. Close round. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 2:
Horiguchi landed a nice knee in the second round and he took Johnson down against the cage. Johnson battled back to his feet while Horiguchi threw short left hands. Johnson tripped Horiguchi and he landed knees and punches on the way up. He took Horiguchi down again and briefly mounted him against the base of the cage. Horiguchi stood and Johnson pressed forward with two lunging hooks. He landed another combination and dragged Horiguchi down to the mat. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 3:
The third round began with an exchange of kicks and Johnson took Horiguchi’s back. He tripped him and landed knees as Horiguchi rose to his feet. Horiguchi connected with a nice left hook and Johnson replied with a pair of body kicks. He took Horiguchi down and moved to side control. Johnson trapped Horiguchi in a top-side crucifix and he landed punches and elbows until the bell. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 4:
Horiguchi punched his way into a clinch in round four, but Johnson countered by taking his back. Horiguchi broke free momentarily, but Johnson closed in and took him down. Horiguchi scrambled up and Johnson landed a leg kick. He bloodied Horiguchi’s nose and worked for a takedown against the fence. Horiguchi defended and he tried for a takedown of his own. Johnson landed two body kicks before the end of the round. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 5:
Johnson took Horiguchi down early in the final round and escaped from an inverted triangle choke attempt. He briefly took Horiguchi’s back and tried for a rear-naked choke, but Horiguchi stood up and broke free. Johnson quickly closed the distance and took him down once again. Horiguchi escaped from an armbar and another rear-naked choke. Johnson kept him pinned down and he moved to side control. Horiguchi scrambled up and ate two knees to the body on the way. Johnson dumped him to the mat and landed punches from a top-side crucifix, then locked on an armbar for the tapout win.

Winner: Demetrious Johnson by Submission (Armbar) at 4:59 of round five. He improves to 22-2-1 and remains the UFC Flyweight Champion.

 

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs Fabio Maldonado

Round 1:
Maldonado landed a lead left hook early in the fight and Jackson answered with a leg kick and a flurry of punches. A left hook and a knee to the body scored for Jackson and he mixed things up with a flurry to the body and head. He backed Maldonado up against the cage with punches and knees, but Maldonado fired back with left hooks. He finished the round with a one-two and a left hand. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 2:
Maldonado clinched and held Jackson against the cage in round two. Jackson countered with knees and circled away. Maldonado closed the distance again and punched to the body. Jackson responded with body shots of his own. Maldonado continued to target Jackson’s midsection with punches while pinning him against the fence. Jackson landed a hard right hook and followed with an uppercut. He closed in with more punches, but Maldonado took him down in the final 15 seconds. Very close round. 10-9 Jackson, barely.

Round 3:
Jackson landed crisp punches and ducked under Maldonado’s jabs in the final round. The fighters traded punches and both landed jabs. Jackson scored with a four-punch flurry and he followed with a leg kick. Maldonado closed the distance after landing a pair of lead left hooks. He punched to the body, but Jackson broke free and landed punches and a standing elbow. Two left hooks landed for Maldonado, but Jackson backed him up with another elbow. 10-9 Jackson.

Winner: Quinton Jackson by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 36-11-0.

 

Michael “The Count” Bisping vs C.B. “The Doberman” Dollaway

Round 1:
Dollaway opened the action with a variety of kicks and Bisping responded with punches over the top. He stuffed a takedown and landed a looping right hook to Dollaway’s temple. Big punches were exchanged and both men landed. Dollaway blocked a head kick and he countered a big left hook from Bisping by dropping him with a looping hook of his own. Dollaway stood over Bisping and landed more punches. Bisping stood and both fighters unloaded with huge shots. The entertaining round ended with Bisping landing a head kick. 10-9 Dollaway.

Round 2:
Bisping landed an overhand right in round two and he evaded Dollaway’s left-hand counters. More hard right hooks were exchanged and Bisping stuffed a takedown. A wild spinning back kick partially landed for Bisping and he hurt Dollaway with a right hook. Bisping rushed in and threw more punches and two head kicks. Dollaway landed a left hook and he took Bisping down just before the bell. 10-9 Bisping.

Round 3:
Dollaway began round three with a lead left hook and Bisping fired back with a right cross. Dollaway took him down, but Bisping quickly returned to his feet. Dollaway wobbled him with a left hook and Bisping threw lunging punches in return. He landed an overhand right and a nice one-two. A head kick partially landed for Bisping and he followed with more kicks to the body. Dollaway ran at him with punches, but his strikes slowed way down and Bisping had more success with kicks. He stuffed another takedown and landed punches from the top. Close round. 10-9 Bisping.

Winner: Michael Bisping by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 26-7-0.

 

John “The Bull” Makdessi vs Shane “Shaolin” Campbell

Round 1:
Campbell landed a series of kicks to Makdessi’s legs and body early on. Makdessi worked for a takedown and Campbell fought him off. He bloodied Makdessi’s nose with punches and continued to chop away at his legs with kicks. Makdessi avoided a takedown attempt and landed two hard right hands, but Campbell landed more leg kicks. Seconds later, Makdessi dropped Campbell with a massive right hook. He followed with more punches on the ground, but Campbell recovered and stood up. Makdessi grabbed the fence to avoid being taken down. He dropped Campbell with another right hand and unloaded with punches for the late-round stoppage.

Winner: John Makdessi by TKO (Punches) at 4:53 of round one. He improves to 13-3-0.

 

Thomas “Thominhas” Almeida vs Yves “Tiger” Jabouin

Round 1:
Jabouin scored a takedown in the opening 90 seconds, but Almeida quickly returned to his feet and he landed right hooks over the top. He mixed up his strikes with lead left hooks and body kicks. Jabouin answered with a spinning back kick, but Almeida continued to score with punching flurries. He rocked Jabouin with a left hook and continued to batter him with body kicks and punches. Jabouin wilted against the fence as Almeida teed off with punches and the fight was stopped.

Winner: Thomas Almeida by TKO (Punches) at 4:18 of round one. He improves to 19-0-0.
