Weekend Recap: Natalie Gonzales Hills Wins Quickly At Brace 29Talented prospect Natalie “The Kilapino” Gonzales Hills kept her undefeated record intact with a quick victory on Saturday night at Brace For War 29 in Cammeray, New South Wales, Australia. Gonzales Hills submitted Lizza “The Machine Girl” Gebilagin in a featured strawweight bout on the card.

Saturday’s win marked Gonzales Hills’s return to pro MMA competition for the first time since her debut on the all-female Brace For War 17 card in October 2012. The 26-year-old Filipina fighter, who has trained and fought in Thailand, remains one of the promotion’s brightest female prospects.

Gonzales Hills (2-0-0), who won an amateur bout in her February return to MMA, wasted no time in taking the fight to Gebilagin (0-1-0) in round one. She rushed in and landed punches and a knee that prompted Gebilagin to shoot for a takedown. Gonzales Hills stuffed it and she secured a trip takedown of her own into top position. A series of punches and hammerfists caused Gebilagin’s right eye to swell up and Gonzales Hills took her back in a scramble. She was unable to sink in both hooks, but still managed to lock on a rear-naked choke that forced Gebilagin to submit at the 1:44 mark.

While still very young in her mixed martial arts career, Gonzales Hills continues to impress in each bout. Saturday’s fight was contested in the strawweight division, but Gonzales Hills has competed at 110 pounds in the past and she could prove to be a contender in the atomweight division when she faces tougher opposition in the future. Gebilagin, a fitness writer who trained for seven months in preparation for her MMA debut, was all smiles after the fight despite the quick defeat.

Winner: Natalie Gonzales Hills by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 1:44 of round one. She improves to 2-0-0.
