UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey wasted absolutely no time in securing her latest highlight-reel victory tonight at UFC 175: “Weidman vs Machida” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rousey retained her UFC title by knocking out Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis in a mere 16 seconds.

Just as she did against past opponents Sarah Kaufman and Sara McMann, Rousey prevented Davis from getting anything going right from the outset of the fight. She threw the challenger on her head and unloaded with punches on the ground until the brief bout was waved off just as quickly as it began.

Rousey (10-0-0) engaged in an early exchange of punches with Davis (16-6-0) as round one began and Davis landed two stiff jabs. That was the extent of her offence, however, as Rousey cracked her with a big right hook and a knee. Davis appeared to be stunned by the strikes and Rousey used one of her signature judo throws – a slightly modified kubi nage – to dump Davis on her head. From the scarf hold position, Rousey then landed a series of unanswered punches to Davis’s face until referee Yves Lavigne jumped in to rescue the barely conscious Canadian.

Tonight’s swift and dominant win again reaffirmed that Rousey is MMA’s premier female competitor and it appears less and less likely that she will be relinquishing her UFC title at any point in the near future. Following her victory, Rousey was asked whether she would be able to compete again at UFC 176 on August 2nd, but a hand injury suffered tonight required stitches and Rousey will not be ready in time.

Leading into the title tilt, Davis was seen as a formidable challenger for Rousey on the ground due to her jiu-jitsu pedigree, but Rousey ensured that she would not have to contend with Davis’s grappling abilities by dispatching the Canadian standout in a matter of seconds.

Winner: Ronda Rousey by KO (Slam & Punches) at 0:16 of round one. She improves to 10-0-0 and remains the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
