Highly-touted judoka Marina “The Supernova From Moldova” Shafir scored another impressive first-round submission victory tonight in the Tuff-N-Uff main event in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shafir finished Tabitha Patterson with an arm-triangle choke to capture the promotion’s 145-pound women’s title.

In other action on the card, Jessica “The Zombie” Zomcik stopped Shannon “Primetime” Reid to win the Tuff-N-Uff women’s featherweight tournament title, and Kyra “Mogwai” Batara defeated Cheyanne “The Warrior Princess” Vlismas to become the Tuff-N-Uff Women’s Atomweight Champion.

Shafir (4-0-0) and Patterson (3-2-0) exchanged punches in the opening seconds and Patterson scored with a hard combination. She followed with short right hands as Shafir closed the distance and clinched against the cage. Shafir worked for a takedown and Patterson defended well, but Shafir locked on a tight standing arm-triangle choke and she used it to slam Patterson down to the mat. Patterson had nowhere to go and she tapped out at the 59-second mark of the first round.

Much like her best friend and training partner, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, Shafir has finished all of her opponents to date with first-round submissions. Both of her bouts for Tuff-N-Uff have ended in 59 seconds apiece and she now holds the promotion’s 145-pound amateur women’s title.

Zomcik (9-3-0) bloodied Reid’s (2-2-0) nose with quick jabs and one-two combinations throughout the one-sided opening round. Early in round two, she took Reid down and moved to mount, then dropped punches until the bout was stopped at the 1:11 mark of the second round. Zomcik has won four straight fights including back-to-back wins under the Tuff-N-Uff banner.

In the first of three female title bouts, Batara (4-1-0) claimed her second Tuff-N-Uff championship belt with a dominant Unanimous Decision win over Vlismas (1-2-1). Batara secured takedowns in each of the first two rounds and she scored with ground and pound and two armbar attempts in the second stanza. Vlismas held on until the bell and attempted a flying armbar of her own in round three, but Batara escaped and controlled the remainder of the fight on the ground en route to victory. Batara previously captured the Tuff-N-Uff 110-pound women’s title in August.
