The newly-formed Deep Jewels promotion held its inaugural all-female event tonight at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. Deep Jewels 1 was headlined by a 52-kilogram mixed martial arts bout between former Jewels title challenger Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino and South Korean striker Hyo Kyung Song.

Elsewhere, Kozue “Azuma” Nagashima battled Ji Yun Kim in a kickboxing match. Jewels star Mika “Future Princess” Nagano took on Akiko “Betiko” Naito in Naito’s retirement fight and Celine Haga faced Sadae “Manhoef” Numata. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the Deep Jewels 1 card.

Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino vs Hyo Kyung Song

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Fujino moves in early on and clinches. She looks for trips but can’t wrap up a leg and Serizawa restarts them. Fujino charges forward with a flurry of punches and clinches again. Serizawa breaks them up once more. Fujino looks to move forward again and gets caught with a right hand that drops her. She recovers quickly and they clinch.

Time is called to check a cut that looks like it’s on Fujino’s eyelid. They restart. More charging punches from Fujino before they clinch again. Fujino gets double underhooks but can’t do anything with them and they restart in centre ring. Winging shots from Song. A series of punches land for Fujino. Song stumbles and Fujino lands a flurry before clinching. They trade knees as the round ends.

Round 2:
They trade wild punches and Fujino shoots for a single-leg. Song gets her leg free and they clinch. The fighters break apart and Fujino gets stunned by a punch as she moves in. She drops for a takedown and lands on top in half-guard. Fujino flattens Song out and passes to side control. She’s throwing punches to the face now, but the ropes are in her way. Song rolls and Fujino takes her back. She locks up a rear-naked choke. Song hangs on for a while, but finally taps out at the 3:34 mark.

Winner: Emi Fujino by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 3:34 of round two. She improves to 13-6-0.

Kozue “Azuma” Nagashima vs Ji Yun Kim

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Ryogaku Wada. Azuma opens with a high kick that’s blocked. Punching combinations land for Kim. Hard leg kicks and a front kick to the gut stun Kim. Azuma gets a warning for attacking after the referee called break. Aggressive combos from both fighters now. Big shots land for Azuma. Kim lands a clean hook to the body, but Azuma is pouring it on now. Azuma counters a straight right with a big body kick that lands flush. Kim is hesitant, but she’s still holding her own with occasional counterpunches that land.

Round 2:
They start slow in round two. Kim opens up with a five-punch combo, landing clean on the last shot, and follows with three more punches. They trade low kicks. Kim starts to put together combinations, but she gets caught moving in and eats a stiff jab. Azuma follows it up with a one-two.

Azuma gets backed into a corner and Kim puts pressure on her with combos. Back in the centre, Azuma lands single shots while still getting caught with occasional combos. A big three-punch combo scores for Azuma. She slips and Kim looks to follow through and attack. Wada stops her and the round ends.

Round 3:
Azuma opens up with a spinning heel kick that lands to the stomach. Big punches land now, but Kim returns fire. Kim’s still throwing combos, but she has slowed down significantly. Another spinning heel kick from Azuma misses, but she follows through with a hook that lands flush on the face. Kim is landing punches in succession, but there’s not much power behind them and Azuma continues to push forward. They land big hooks simultaneously. Hard leg kick from Azuma. Kim lands a punch that staggers Azuma in the final seconds, but she can’t capitalise before the bell rings.

Judge Kenichi Serizawa scores the fight even at 30-30, while judges Yoshinori Umeki and Akira Yamazaki both have it 30-29 for the winner by Majority Decision, Nagashima.

Winner: Kozue Nagashima by Majority Decision (30-29, 30-29, 30-30) after three rounds.

Mika “Future Princess” Nagano vs Akiko “Betiko” Naito

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Straight punches land for Nagano. They clinch and Nagano secures a trip into mount. Nagano throws shots to the head and looks for an armbar. Naito is bucking, but Nagano keeps her balance and throws her leg over for an armbar. She extends and gets the tap at 2:24.

Winner: Mika Nagano by Submission (Armbar) at 2:24 of round one. She improves to 14-8-0.

Sadae “Manhoef” Numata vs Celine Haga

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Numata starts the fight with two Yellow Cards for coming in 950 grams (2.09 pounds) overweight. They start slow, circling and finding range. Numata starts to pressure. She misses a winging hook and Haga ducks and gets a trip takedown, quickly taking the back. Numata reverses and lands on top in guard. She throws punches, but they’re tangled in the ropes and Umeki breaks them up. Time is called for a wardrobe malfunction.

The fighters restart standing. Haga drops for a takedown and they clinch in the corner. Kness from Haga as they split up. Numata stuffs another takedown and lands on top. An armbar attempt follows from Haga, but Numata slips out and throws punches while standing. Haga rolls to evade and Numata takes her back. Haga sits up and reverses, taking Numata’s back. She’s looking for the choke as the round ends.

Round 2:
Hard punches from Numata. Haga shoots and gets a double-leg. Numata rolls and Haga takes her back. Haga loses a hook and Numata winds up on top in guard. Numata stands up and Haga shoots in for another double-leg. Numata stuffs it and they clinch before being separated. Another takedown attempt stuffed by Numata. Haga drops back to play guard and Numata lands a series of punches. Haga rolls and Numata takes her back. Numata locks up a rear-naked choke. Haga escapes and starts to recover guard. Punches land for Numata at the end of the round.

Judge Kenichi Serizawa scores the fight for Haga, while judges Ryogaku Wada and Akira Yamazaki both have it for the winner by Split Decision, Numata.

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Ryogaku Wada. They trade leg kicks. Kurihara is the aggressor early on. Matsuda fires back and lands a punch-kick combo against the ropes. Another one-two lands for Matsuda. She rushes in again and eats a straight right, but still lands her own punches. Matsuda’s repeating the same pattern and succeeding over and over again. Leg kicks land for Kurihara and the round ends.

Round 2:
A low kick, punch combo lands for Kurihara and they trade body kicks. Matsuda lands a one-two. Kurihara starts to put together combinations. Matsuda moves into range and lands a flush two-punch combo to the body. They circle and the bell sounds.

Round 3:
A push kick from Kurihara puts Matsuda on the mat. Matsuda rushes in and lands a hard flurry of punches. She stays aggressive despite eating a few counterpunches. Knee to the body from Matsuda. Lunging shots land for Kurihara. Matsuda’s losing form and Kurihara lands more counter shots before the bell.

Judge Kenichi Serizawa scores the fight 30-29 for Matsuda, while judges Akira Yamazaki and Yoshinori Umeki both have it even at 29-29 for a Majority Draw.

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. They circle and Oya rushes in and stuns Mogi with punches. Mogi lands a left hook and Oya falls to the mat. Mogi gets on top in half-guard. Oya sweeps and lands in closed guard. Mogi gets up and secures a takedown. She looks to take the back from behind while throwing punches.

Oya turns and Mogi tries to pass from half-guard. Mogi can’t pass and referee Umeki stands them up. Oya lands sloppy punches. They clinch in the corner before being restarted again. Oya rushes forward again, but Mogi lands counter shots. Oya lands a series of straight punches and gets a double-leg takedown at the end of the round.

Round 2:
Oya pressures with punches before landing a takedown. She throws more punches from half-guard. Big shots land and Mogi is hurt. She scrambles and wraps up a leg, looking for a takedown. Umeki restarts them for inactivity. Oya stuffs a takedown and moves to take the back. She can’t get her hooks in and Umeki stands them up. More wild punching from Oya. Mogi stuffs a takedown and throws punches. Oya’s still looking for the takedown as the round ends.

Judge Kenichi Serizawa scores the fight for Mogi, while judges Akira Yamazaki and Ryogaku Wada both have it for the winner by Split Decision, Oya.

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Akira Yamazaki. They clinch up and Rikako jumps for a triangle. She switches to an armbar, but Mizuki steps over and escapes. Mizuki on top in closed guard now. A triangle attempt followed by an omoplata from Rikako. Mizuki escapes and stands up in Rikako’s De La Riva guard. Mizuki spins for a kneebar attempt, but Rikako slips out and works to pass from above. Sweep from Mizuki. Fancy quarter- and x-guard work from Rikako as she looks to set up another omoplata. She switches to an armbar and the bell rings.

Round 2:
They clinch and Mizuki gets an inside trip. Rikako rolls for the back, then locks on a heel hook. Mizuki avoids the submission and stands up. Rikako rolls and looks for an armbar, but she can’t lock it up. Mizuki gets to reverse mount, then looks for a toe hold, but Rikako escapes and passes her guard. They stand and clinch, then grip fight for a bit and Rikako jumps guard. Rikako starts to sweep, but Mizuki recovers her balance as the round ends.

Judges Kenichi Serizawa, Yoshinori Umeki and Ryogaku Wada all score the bout for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Yuasa.

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. They clinch early on and Seki briefly whips Tamada to the ground, but Tamada recovers and lands a takedown. Seki stands but Tamada wraps her head up, looking for a guillotine. She lets go and looks for takedowns from a clinch in the corner. Referee Serizawa breaks them up. Tamada moves in to clinch again, but Seki trips her and lands in guard. Serizawa stands them up after inactivity. They clinch again. Seki catches a leg and takes Tamada down into half-guard. Tamada rolls and sets up a kneebar that looks deep, but the bell cuts her short.

Round 2:
They trade feints and Tamada lands a clean right hook. The fighters clinch in the corner again. Serizawa restarts them in the middle. Tamada lands a double-leg tackle. Seki tries to stand and Tamada takes her back. Serizawa stands them up for reasons unknown. Seki stuffs a takedown and throws a series of punches to the body. They clinch again, then break apart and trade punches before clinching once more. Uppercuts from Seki and knees from Tamada. They’re restarted again and Tamada immediately lands a takedown before the bell.

Judges Ryogaku Wada, Akira Yamazaki and Yoshinori Umeki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Tamada.

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Ryogaku Wada. They brawl early on and Yoshida lands some solid shots. Takedown into mount from Yoshida, but the corner post keeps Takano sitting up. Yoshida gets her down, but in half-guard now. Referee Wada stands them up for some reason. A huge right cross lands for Yoshida. They circle and Yoshida keeps threatening with hard rights. Takano pushes into range and lands a few good punches of her own before clinching. She scores a takedown into guard. Takano stands to throw punches and Yoshida inverts, looking for a leglock. She can’t get it and the round ends.

Round 2:
Yoshida lands a low kick, punch combo and Takano shoots in for a takedown. They get wrapped up in the ropes and Wada stands them up. Takano ducks under a right hand and lands a one-two. More crisp shots land for Yoshida. They clinch in the corner and Yoshida hits a trip takedown, but she gets reversed and lands on the bottom in half-guard. Takano tries to set up a guillotine from the top but gets reversed. Yoshida is in half-guard but has her head wrapped up.

Yoshida passes to side control and throws punches, but she still has her head stuck. Wada calls for action before standing them up. They trade punching combos and Yoshida lands a right hook before pushing into the corner, looking for a takedown. Takano tries to wrap up a kimura and they go to the ground. Yoshida postures and escapes the hold. They stand again and both land big overhand rights before the bell.

Judges Yoshinori Umeki, Kenichi Serizawa and Akira Yamazaki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Yoshida.

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Kusaka shoots early on and lands a single-leg against the ropes, moving from half-guard to mount fairly easily. She works for an armbar, but Hamada escapes and they stand. More clinching again and Kusaka gets a takedown from the rear clinch. She takes her time setting her hooks in and flattens Hamada out. Hamada stands and they clinch. Another takedown from Kusaka, but Hamada gets back to her feet again. They break apart and start striking sloppily. Hamada is landing punches, but there’s not much behind them.

Round 2:
A big double-leg tackle from Kusaka lands her in guard. Armbar attempt follows from Hamada, but she’s too low on the arm and Kusaka swings around. Hamada shoots for a leg in the scramble and gets a takedown. They stand and clinch. Hamada wraps up a guillotine and jumps guard, but Kusaka slips out and passes into mount. Hamada rolls and Kusaka takes her back. She works for the choke, but loses her hooks and throws punches from side control. Another back-take attempt from Kusaka before taking mount. Hamada stands up and escapes an armbar attempt. Kusaka shoots and the bell rings.

Judges Ryogaku Wada, Akira Yamazaki and Kenichi Serizawa all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Kusaka.

Megumi Sugimoto vs Takumi Umehara

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Akira Yamazaki. Ground and pound is not permitted. Sugimoto rushes forward with punches, backing Umehara up to the ropes. Sugimoto eats a punch and immediately shoots for a takedown. They wrestle in the clinch for a bit and Sugimoto lands a big knee to the face, then scores a takedown into guard. She passes to half-guard, then mount. The rules prevent Sugimoto from punching to the face, so she punches away at Umehara’s stomach. Umehara bucks to escape, but Sugimoto keeps her balance and rides out the round.

Round 2:
Sugimoto immediately shoots and lands a double-leg takedown. Umehara scoots out of the ropes and they’re stood up. They clinch and Umehara hits a well-timed hip toss. Sugimoto escapes from side control and stands, clinching against the ropes. A trip attempt from Umehara is reversed and Sugimoto lands on top in guard.

Sugimoto starts to set up an arm-triangle choke and then passes into side control, tightening the choke. It doesn’t seem to be working, so Sugimoto lets go and moves to mount. She hunts for an armbar, but gets bucked back into side control, then half-guard. Another arm-triangle attempt from Sugimoto as the bell rings.

Judges Ryogaku Wada, Kenichi Serizawa and Yoshinori Umeki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Sugimoto.
