Simona Soukupova vs “Sassy” Cassie Rodish

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Rusty Sullivan. The fight began with an exchange of quick hooks and kicks from both women. In the clinch, Soukupova threw short elbows and another knee as Rodish looked to take her down. Soukupova continued to throw knees to the body and Rodish responded with right hands to the ribs. Rodish began to punch over the top and the fighters separated after landing right hooks at the same time.

Rodish dove for an ankle pick takedown, but Soukupova reversed and wound up on top. Rodish trapped her in rubber guard and landed elbows from the bottom. She transitioned to an armbar, but Soukupova got a leg in to defend. Rodish punched with her free hand and tried again to secure the armbar. Soukupova broke free and landed some hard punches from the top just before the bell. Very close round. 10-9 Soukupova.

Round 2:
Rodish backed Soukupova up to the cage in round two, but Soukupova countered with a series of knees and a standing guillotine choke. Soukupova continued to land knees while tightening her grip on the choke, but Rodish eventually took her down and escaped. Rodish punched and tried to move to mount, but Soukupova used the cage to stand up. After backing away, Rodish dropped levels for a takedown and shot right into a knee. Soukupova locked on another standing guillotine choke and this time Rodish was forced to tap out.

Winner: Simona Soukupova by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 3:20 of round two. She improves to 4-2-1.

 

“The Queen of Mean” Miriam Nakamoto vs Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is John McCarthy. Nakamoto landed a short left hook counter early on, but Duke pushed forward and clinched against the cage. Duke tried to take the fight to the ground and Nakamoto countered with knees. Duke picked Nakamoto up, but Nakamoto maintained her balance and landed another knee. Nakamoto dropped Duke with one knee and landed another one that knocked Duke out. The second knee appeared to land when Duke was kneeling down.

Winner: Miriam Nakamoto by KO (Knees) at 2:20 of round one. She improves to 2-0-0.

 

Katja “Killer Bunny” Kankaanpää vs Juliana “Ju Thai” Carneiro Lima

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Greg Franklin. Kankaanpää caught a kick and took Carneiro Lima down right away. Carneiro Lima tried to counter with a guillotine choke and Kankaanpää pulled her head free. The fighters stood against the cage and Kankaanpää ued a lateral drop to take Carneiro Lima back down. She moved to half-guard, but Carneiro Lima scrambled back up. She landed short uppercuts in the clinch and Kankaanpää worked for another takedown. Both women landed knees and Kankaanpää looked to set up a standing guillotine choke. She landed more knees to the thigh before the bell. 10-9 Kankaanpää.

Round 2:
Carneiro Lima opened round two with kicks and Kankaanpää answered back with two lunging hooks that backed Carneiro Lima up. After a brief clinch, Carneiro Lima tripped Kankaanpää to a knee. Kankaanpää stood and worked for a takedown of her own. She once again used a lateral drop to take Carneiro Lima down and moved from side control to mount. Kankaanpää spun into an armbar, but the cage prevented her from rolling through and Carneiro Lima managed to escape. Kankaanpää returned to side control and landed knees to the body.

Kankaanpää moved to a top-side crucifix and landed punches until Carneiro Lima scrambled and kicked her off. She inadvertently kicked Kankaanpää in the face with an illegal upkick and time was briefly called. Action resumed without any point deductions for the accidental foul and the fighters clinched up against the cage. They stayed there and battled for position until the end of the round. 10-9 Kankaanpää.

Round 3:
Carneiro Lima scored with a nice knee to the body in the final round and Kankaanpää clinched. Carneiro Lima threw shoulder strikes and kept Kankaanpää pinned against the fence. She tried to throw Kankaanpää to the mat, but Kankaanpää stayed up and landed short knees. Carneiro Lima replied with two knees to the face. The fighters exchanged knees to the thighs until Carneiro Lima took Kankaanpää down. Kankaanpää looked for an armbar from the bottom and referee Greg Franklin intervened for a quick standup. The fight ended in a clinch against the cage with Carneiro Lima working for a takedown. 10-9 Carneiro Lima.

Judge Henry Gueary: 30-27 Kankaanpää. Judge Brett Miller: 29-28 Kankaanpää. Judge Jackson Harper: 30-27 Kankaanpää.

Winner: Katja Kankaanpää by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. She improves to 8-0-1.

 

“Thug” Rose Namajunas vs Kathina “Kill Switch” Catron

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Rusty Sullivan. Namajunas rocked Catron with punches right away and the fighters clinched. Namajunas jumped into a flying armbar and pulled Catron to the mat, and Catron immediately tapped out. Extremely impressive victory.

Winner: Rose Namajunas by Submission (Flying Armbar) at 0:12 of round one. She improves to 2-0-0.

 

Alex “Astro Girl” Chambers vs Jodie Esquibel

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Rusty Sullivan. Esquibel opened the action with a left hook and the fighters traded punches in close. Chambers clinched and took Esquibel’s back, then dragged her down to the mat. Chambers quickly secured a rear-naked choke and Esquibel tried to defend. Chambers adjusted her grip and Esquibel was forced to submit.

Winner: Alex Chambers by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 1:35 of round one. She improves to 4-1-0.

  4. No, she is definitely going by Justino now. That comes straight from Cris and Invicta. I don’t believe that she and Evangelista are back together, but she is for sure going by Justino either way.
