Veteran contender Lacey “The Ladie” Schuckman won for the first time as an atomweight on Saturday night at Sparta Combat League: “Thunderdome” in Denver, Colorado. Schuckman earned a Unanimous Decision victory over prospect Darla “Train Wreck” Harris in the 105-pound co-main event.
On Friday night in Orem, Utah, DeAnna “The Argentine Assassin” Bennett picked up the biggest victory of her young career at Showdown Fights 10: “Collard vs Clements.” Bennett took a hard-fought Unanimous Decision win over Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Peña in a featured flyweight bout.
Schuckman (8-6-0) took the fight to the mat early in the opening round, but Harris (3-2-0) countered with an armbar from the bottom and scrambled into top position. Schuckman alternated between triangle chokes and armbars until the fighters returned to their feet. Both landed big punches and Schuckman secured another takedown before the end of the round.
The middle stanza began with another exchange of punches and the fighters clinched. Schuckman tried for a takedown, but Harris wound up on top. Schuckman was able to sweep and punched from the top in mount, but time was called after Harris was struck in the back of the head. When action resumed, Harris countered a takedown with an omoplata and Schuckman punched her way free.
Schuckman took Harris back down in the final round and struck from side control until the referee brought the fighters back to their feet. Schuckman secured another takedown and rained down punches and elbows before transitioning to mount and working for an armbar shortly before the end of the fight.
All three judges scored the bout for Schuckman, who snapped a two-fight losing streak and earned her first win since making the move down to the 105-pound atomweight division.

Bennett (2-0-0) countered an early flurry from Peña (3-2-0) with stiff jabs and she looked to keep her distance as Peña closed in and clinched against the cage. Peña tried for a takedown, but she wound up on the bottom and quickly locked on an armbar. Bennett appeared to be in some trouble, but she fought free and landed a barrage of punches from the top. Bennett continued to land more punches as the round progressed and she avoided Peña’s heel hooks, armbars and triangle choke attempts.
The second round was contested entirely on the feet and Peña landed punches and some nice knees. Bennett replied with overhand rights and a head kick, but her nose began to bleed from one of Peña’s knees. Peña landed standing elbows in the clinch and kept Bennett pinned against the cage whenever possible. Bennett closed out the competitive round with another knee.
After an exchange of knees to the body in the final round, Peña backed Bennett up with punches and clinched against the fence. She tried again for a takedown and wound up on the bottom with Bennett on her back. Bennett latched onto an armbar on Peña’s left arm and pulled back, but Peña refused to submit. She eventually escaped, but Bennett took her back again and remained there until just before the end of the action-packed fight.
Bennett’s dominance on the ground in rounds one and three was enough to earn her the victory on all three judges’ scorecards and she remains unbeaten in four pro and amateur bouts.
Winner: DeAnna Bennett by Unanimous Decision after three rounds. She improves to 2-0-0.
