Heather Clark Submits Avery Vilche At XFC 18 In NashvilleHeather “Hurricane” Clark needed less than two minutes to earn a dominant submission victory over late replacement opponent Avery “Psycho” Vilche tonight at XFC 18: “Music City Mayhem” in Nashville, Tennessee. Clark secured a rear-naked choke that forced an overmatched Vilche to submit.

It was Vilche who opted to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard in the early goings, but the decision proved to be her undoing. Clark easily avoided an armbar attempt and passed to mount, where she flurried with punches until Vilche gave up her back and succumbed to the choke.

Clark (5-2-0) countered an early clinch attempt from Vilche (4-7-1) with punches in close. She threw Vilche to the mat and landed in the scarf hold position, but was unable to mount any offence before Vilche returned to her feet. Clark scored with a knee and a looping right hand that prompted Vilche to pull guard in the centre of the cage.

The veteran Vilche was active from the bottom and gamely tried for an armbar, but Clark was never in any danger and effortlessly passed to side control. From there, she moved to mount and unloaded with punches that forced Vilche to roll and give up her back. Within seconds, Clark locked on the rear-naked choke and Vilche tapped out.

With the quick victory, Clark gets back on the winning track after a disappointing doctor stoppage loss in her XFC debut in February. A rematch between Clark and the woman who defeated her that night, Marianna “The Crushen Russian” Kheyfets, is rumoured for later this year and could happen as soon as XFC 19 in August.

Winner: Heather Clark by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 1:51 of round one. She improves to 5-2-0.
