HKFC: “School Of Hard Knocks 12” Live Play-By-Play & ResultsHard Knocks Fighting Championship made its return to the Century Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canada tonight for HKFC: “School of Hard Knocks 12.” The event featured a 150-pound women’s bout between Olympic medallist “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey and Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet.

Also on the card, Matt Krayco earned his second straight Hard Knocks win when he faced Lee Palichuk in welterweight action, while Jeff Larkin took on Sumeet Gill in a second bout in the 170-pound division. Matt Krayco vs Lee Palichuk

Round 1:
Krayco clinched and took Palichuk down early in the fight, then fought off a triangle choke and passed to side control. Krayco locked on a Kimura on Palichuk’s left am and wrenched it behind his back. Palichuk held on, but Krayco used his legs to trap Palichuk’s head and torqued his arm behind his back once again. Palichuk had nowhere to go and tapped out.

Winner: Matt Krayco by Submission (Kimura) at 1:15 of round one. He improves to 4-1-0.

 

“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey vs Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet

Round 1:
Rousey scored a quick trip takedown early on, but wound up on the bottom. Tweet stood up and Rousey followed. Tweet landed two solid punches as Rousey pushed forward, but Rousey clinched again and used a judo throw to take the fight back down to the mat. She moved to mount and landed punches, then spun into an armbar on Tweet’s right arm. Tweet tapped out immediately.

Winner: Ronda Rousey by Submission (Armbar) at 0:49 of round one. She improves to 2-0-0.

 

Jeff “The Atomic Zombie” Larkin vs Sumeet Gill

Round 1:
Larkin clinched against the cage early on and landed a nice standing elbow. He mixed in knees and looked for a takedown. Gill answered with a hard knee of his own and the fighters separated. Another clinch soon followed and Larkin landed two knees to the body. Gill countered a knee to the face with a series of uppercuts and circled away.

Larkin scored with another knee, but Gill once again countered with uppercuts and took Larkin down. He struck from the top until Larkin got back to his feet. Larkin resumed his assault with knees and Gill threw another uppercut. Larkin countered jabs with a right cross and defended a takedown. He stuffed another takedown and the fighters traded punches to end the close round. 10-9 Larkin.

Round 2:
Larkin connected with a one-two in the second round and Gill answered with a side kick to the body. Gill defended a takedown and landed another kick. A left-right combo seemed to stun Gill briefly, but he quickly recovered and flashed out a head kick. Gill attempted a takedown, but Larkin reversed and wound up on top against the cage. He landed punches and elbows from the top in Gill’s guard.

Larkin moved to half-guard and then to mount. He teed off with elbows and Gill gave up his back. Larkin flattened Gill out and landed more punches, but could not secure a rear-naked choke. Gill rolled over and Larkin blasted him with a series of elbows. He switched to punches and Gill was soon rendered unconscious.

Winner: Jeff Larkin by KO (Punches & Elbows) at 3:52 of round two. He improves to 2-0-0.

 

Elias Theodorou vs Tanner “The Tank” Tolman

Round 1:
Body kicks and punches landed for both fighters early on and Tolman took the fight to the mat. From side control, he landed punches with his right hand, but Theodorou got back to full guard. Tolman transitioned to back control in a scramble and secured a rear-naked choke. Theodorou defended well and eventually escaped to his feet. Tolman landed punches on the feet and Theodorou answered with knees.

Theodorou countered a takedown with submission attempts from the bottom, but Tolman passed to side control and landed elbows. Theodorou swept and wound up in Tolman’s guard. He passed straight to mount and took Tolman’s back. Theodorou used punches to try to set up a rear-naked choke. He bloodied Tolman with punches and returned to mount. Theodorou trapped one of Tolman’s arms and unloaded with punches and elbows until the fight was stopped. Excellent fight.

Winner: Elias Theodorou by TKO (Punches & Elbows) at 3:49 of round one. He improves to 1-0-0.
